My personal 2007 year in review
Published by
I have a good friend that once told me: "Things tend to turn out the way you want them to, just not the way you expect them to." Man, if I had a dime for each thing that didn't turn out the way I wanted it to! Yet, in retrospect, it was a fairly good year, and my only real complaint is that I got injured this year. To sum the season up briefly, I came into the indoor season stronger than ever and I ran a 6 second mile PR to prove it at the first indoor meet in late January. The time also was equivalent to my 1500 PR from the previous outdoor season! Unfortunately, I overloaded my calf on a workout, developed some tendonitis and was not able to compete for the rest of the year. I have learned through the process some of the things I need to look for when I get a soft tissue injury and some of the treatments I respond best to. So many things to be thankful for this year. I have found a wonderful new home with my awesome two new roommates! Jesse and Lauren have been a couple of the coolest roommates I've ever had, they're likeable, funny, intelligent, good cooks, talented, and multi-dimensional people. I am blessed to have such great roomies! I just got back from having a week off for Christmas, which hasn't happened since college, and got plenty of QT with the fam. I'm a little more financially stable than I was a year ago, I am doing a lot of travelling for the website, which I love, and my roots in Eugene continue to grow deeper as my circle of friends continues to grow. I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, there are so many things to be excited about for 2008, not just my return to competition, but that little thing called the Olympic Trials and the Olympic Games, the Presidential Election, oh, and my roommate's 7th birthday (Leap Year!). |
