Girls records tumble in Minnesota

 

State Meet Highlights

 

- St. Michael Albertville twice broke the girl's 4x100 relay state record. In the prelims they bettered the old record by .01 in 47.47. They then bettered it with a 47.28 in the final.

 

- Senior Jedah Caldwell of Chanhassen, already the state record holder in the 100, nabbed the record in the 200 as well, completing the half lap event in 23.91.

 
Karina Joiner of West Ashley, a senior, broke her own state record in the 100 hurdles to become the first from Minnesota to break 14.00 when she ran 13.95 in the prelims. She ran 14.01 in the final.

 

- Senior Meleah Biermaier from Thief River Fall shattered the state record in the 300 hurdles by .8 seconds with a 41.35 clocking.

 

- Hopkins broke the state meet record in the Class 2A boy's 4x800 relay in 9:44.56.

 

Edina broke the girl's 4x800 relay state record in 8:59.69. They are the first team from Minnesota to break the9:00 barrier.

 

Evan McClellon of Robb Armstrong, a senior, won the 2A 100 in 10.51. He also ran 10.46 in the prelim.

 

Denzel Brown, a junior from Eden Prarie, ran a strong 21.65 into a 2.9m/s headwind to win the Class 2A 200.

 
- Senior 
Isaiah Weston, of St. Michael Albertville, won the 2A 110 hurdles in 14.06.

 
Jake Kubiatowicz of North threw 184-10 for the upset victory in the 2A discus.

 
Honour Finley of Bloomington Kennedy, a junior, finished 9 hundredths off the 400 state record in 54.45 while winning the 2A race.

 
Andrianna Jacobs of Rochester Century won the 2A pole vault in state meet record of 13-3. That is one inch off the state record.


Amanda Anderson of St. Francis won the 2A discus with a throw of 155-9. Jaime Salone of Blake School won the 1A event with a meet record throw of 155-1.

 
- Senior 
Emma Benner of Forest Lake won the 3,200 in an upset, winning by 7 seconds in 10.29.69.


Jaret Carpenter, a senior from Wayzata, won the 2A 1,600 and 3,200 in 4:10.89 and 9:10.46, respectively.

 

T'Nia Riley, a sophomore from MPLS North, had the top time in the 1A 100 prelims. She and two others went under the old record under legal wind conditions. Riley went on to win the 100 and 200..

 

Top Teams:


Wayzata ran away with the boy's team title, winning by 31 with 75 points. The girl's title was close with Alexandria pulling out the win by .25 points over Chanhassen, 44.25-44. Third place scored 42 points and fourth had 40.
